GMPH's Summer Riding Academy is an equestrian camp where the entire focus is on that of horses and riding.
Time not spent riding is spent grooming, cleaning, feeding, and caring for the horses.
This is an immersion camp into the world of horses!

June 30-July 2
July 28-30
August 18-20

Cost

$300

Schedule

9 - Academy day starts. Horses are caught and brushed
10 - Group 1 lesson begins. Group 2 clean stalls, learn horsemanship
11 - Groups switch
12 - LUNCH
1 - Group horsemanship
2 - Group 1 rides again. Group 2 may do stable chores or work on horsemanship
3 - Groups switch
4 - Put horses away. Clean tack and tidy up
5 - Academy day ends.

Children must bring a sack lunch. Please have your child bring snacks for breaks.

Horsemanship

Horsemanship time may include the following activities

  • Basic safety around horses
  • Approaching and leading horses
  • Feed and nutrition
  • Grooming, saddling, and bridling
  • Leading and voice commands
  • Educational session - parts of the horse, horse terminology
  • Q & A session
  • Horse bathing

Notice to Parents

  • GMPH's operating motto is "safety first." Learning to work safely with horses on the ground and while riding is our goal.
  • Helmets, riding boots, and long pants are required - no exception.
  • Your understanding of "safety first" is appreciated!
